Four arrested after viral reckless driving flag stunt in Mississauga

Four individuals have been arrested and charged by police following an investigation into a reckless driving incident involving keffiyeh-wearing passengers hanging out of vehicles while waving Jordanian flags.

The Peel Regional Police announced that following an investigation into a viral video recorded on May 25, 2025, showing individuals swerving down Platinum Drive in Mississauga, Ont., four people have been arrested.

The video, shared by individuals engaged in the act and shared by the pro-Israel account Leviathan on X in May, showed a white Audi SUV, a white Mitsubishi Lancer, and a white Toyota Prius — some with keffiyehs spread across their hoods.

The police report failed to mention the keffiyehs on the hood but noted the vehicles were “driving recklessly, swerving” on the roadway and into oncoming traffic, forcing other motorists to pull over to avoid collisions.

“Passengers stood through the sunroof or hung from passenger windows. This driving behaviour placed the passengers of those vehicles and the surrounding public at risk,” the police report said.

Also absent from the report was the fact that the individuals were holding what appeared to be large Jordanian flags out of the windows while leaning out of the vehicles themselves.

The police announcement said the videos helped them identify and arrest several of the individuals involved.

Police arrested 28-year-old Yazzeed Alshawabkeh, 21-year-olds Amer Alykid and Faisal Al-Azzam, and a 16-year-old male who cannot be identified. The accused face up to five separate criminal and provincial offences.

Without identifying which individuals were charged with what offences, the police noted that charges included the dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, careless driving, and driving unaccompanied by a qualified driver while holding a class G1 licence. Other charges included being a passenger while failing to wear a seatbelt and permitting a motor vehicle to be operated without insurance.

Police urge anyone with information concerning driving-related offences within the Peel region to contact police at 905-453-3311 or submit an online complaint through the Peel Regional Police’s Road Watch. Anonymous tips can also be sent to Crime Stoppers.
