An acupuncturist working in the Greater Toronto Area has been charged with two counts of sexual assault.

According to police, a victim reported being sexually assaulted by their acupuncturist on May 26. Two days later, Heng Guang Shen, 57, of Richmond Hill, was charged with two counts of sexual assault.

The alleged incidents of sexual assault occurred while the complainant attended a clinic in the area of Highway 7 East and Chalmers Road.

Police added that the victim said they were assaulted on at least two occasions.

Investigators have released an image of the acupuncturist on the belief that there may be additional victims.

“A sexual assault includes any non-consensual contact of a sexual nature. York Regional Police would like to encourage anyone who feels they may have been a victim of a sexual assault to come forward and report the incident to police,” police added in their statement.

Police also offered a reminder to the public that there is no statute of limitations for sexual offences and that offenders can be prosecuted well after the date of the offence.

The police did not provide any additional information regarding the custody status of the suspect or a future court date.
