Newfoundland police are asking the public for help to locate a wanted man who’s charged with a litany of violent offences and sex crimes while on release for prior offences.
The 40-year-old man, Simon Andrew, is wanted in relation to a series of alarming offences, alleged to have occurred at a residence in Sheshatshiu on May 6, 2025.
Andrew, who has “been actively been evading authorities”—according to an RCMP statement—is already charged with sexual assault with a weapon, aggravated assault, two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts of forcible confinement, mischief, and failure to comply with conditions of a release order.
Police believe that Andrew is frequenting between Sheshatshiu and Happy Valley-Goose Bay.
The investigation is ongoing.
Conservative MP Larry Brock took to X earlier today to further an appeal to the public to help authorities secure the arrest of Andrew, who is the alleged perpetrator of multiple crimes.
“A violent repeat offender, out on release, now wanted for sexual assault with a weapon and forcible confinement,” Brock wrote, “was already facing charges—and still, Liberal soft-on-crime laws let him walk free,” Brock said.
“This is the broken justice system they’ve created with laws like C-5 and C-75. Laws that Mark Carney vows to keep,” the MP continued.
“Why won’t Carney’s Liberals end catch-and-release to finally put dangerous criminals behind bars?” Brock asked in the post released Friday.
