Conservative candidate Andrew Lawton has won the Ontario riding of Elgin–St. Thomas–London South after receiving 51.5 per cent of the vote.
Lawton beat out Liberal candidate David Goodwin and NDP candidate Paul Pighin, who took 41.1 per cent and 5.2 per cent of the vote, respectively, according to Elections Canada.
This election marks the first time that Lawton has run for federal politics, having previously run in London during the 2018 provincial election for Doug Ford’s Progressive Conservatives.
Incumbent Conservative MP Karen Vecchio had held the Elgin–St. Thomas–London South seat since 2015, but announced that she would not be seeking re-election earlier this year.
The riding was formerly known as Elgin–Middlesex–London, but its boundaries were changed for the 2025 federal election.
Elections Canada reported that the riding received 26,476 ballots from advanced poll voters.
Lawton is an author and former journalist and broadcaster with True North.
This is a developing story that will be updated as further results come in.
