Podcaster and comedian Joe Rogan weighed in on Prime Minister Mark Carney, calling him “just as bad” as his predecessor Justin Trudeau and that his government would be more of the same.
During a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience with guest Michael Kosta, a fellow comedian and co-host of The Daily Show, the two discussed the escalating tension between Canada and the U.S. amid tariffs and the trade war.
“Why are we upset at Canada? This is stupid,” said Rogan on Saturday. “We gotta become friends with Canada again.”
He said the growing animosity between American and Canadians is “so ridiculous” as the two watched a hockey fight from the recent 4 Nations Face-Off tournament.
That tournament saw fans of both countries booing each other’s national anthem.
“I can’t believe that there is anti-American and anti-Canadian sentiment going on,” he said. “This is the dumbest f***ing feud.”
Kosta questioned whether the ongoing hostility was a two-way street.
“Is there anti-Canadian sentiment?” he asked Rogan.
“Yeah, there’s a lot of idiots that now think ‘they’re our f***ing enemy,’ and ‘why are we subsidizing Canada?’” responded Rogan.
He said that some Americans are now questioning Canada’s military capabilities Kosta addressed Trudeau’s departure, alluding to how that could possibly rekindle diplomatic relations.
“But they gotta a new guy, who’s just as bad,” said Rogan. “Their whole election system is so different. They don’t have a specific time when they have elections.”
Kosta mentioned the likelihood of an early general election, which many people speculate will happen in the coming weeks.
He went on to call the situation “whole” situation “crazy” and that he didn’t really know what was “happening” with Canadian politics.
“I just want America and Canada to get along. I think it’s ridiculous,” he said. “And I don’t really think they should be our 51st state. There I said it. It would be fun if it happened. I think Greenland is more accessible. I would buy that, if you want a 51st state, it’s Greenland.”
Rogan then jokingly elaborated that if global warming was “real,” it would be “good to have a cold spot that would eventually warm up.”
